So a lot a lot has happened and I feel like Mormon when he said that he couldn't write a hundredth part of his people's proceedings. This entire transfer felt like maybe a week at most. I think that it actually was and I'm being lied to, it's hasn't been 6 weeks already. It went too fast. It always goes really fast when your working hard.
Quick update on Dave, he is doing awsome, he is set on coming to church and he is steadily progressing and his testimony is growing whether he realizes it or not.
I met Ming again!! From way back in September of last year when I was with Elder Lewis. I found his girlfriend Teresa, and she brought him to church the next day and they were both super prepared. So it turns out that they were going to get married and then get baptized, but her mom found out and didn't like that so Teresa's mom took her back to China and Ming sold the house and disappeared... and he just showed up on Sunday to our ward! What made it even cooler was when I went to talk to him, he told me that he recognized me and he told me that he was super grateful for me and the other elders that introduced him to the Church and taught him who Jesus Christ was. So that was really cool.
Now for the dimonds and rubies guy. His name is Manny. We knocked on his door looking for his son Victor, we got talking and shared about the Book of Mormon and the restoration of the Gospsel. As we told him about the Book of Mormon and how the primary purpose of it is to teach and testify of Jesus Christ and is a powerful source of additional truths and knowledge about Jesus Christ, he said something that really caught my attention. He held his copy of the Book of Mormon that we had just given him close to his Chest. He said, "this is precious to me because it is Jesus Christ and I love him." It reminded me of an experience President Nelson shared in general conference.
"When he was a newly called Apostle, he gave a lecture in Accra, Ghana. In attendance were dignitaries, including an African tribal king, with whom he spoke through an interpreter. The king was a serious student of the Bible and loved the Lord. Following President Nelson’s remarks, he was approached by that king, who asked in perfect English, “Just who are you?” President Nelson explained that he was an ordained Apostle of Jesus Christ. The king’s next question was “What can you teach me about Jesus Christ?” President Nelson reached for the Book of Mormon and opened it to 3 Nephi 11. Together President Nelson and the king read the Savior’s sermon to the Nephites: “Behold, I am Jesus Christ, whom the prophets testified shall come into the world. … I am the light and the life of the world.” President Nelson presented the king with that copy of the Book of Mormon, and the king responded, “You could have given me diamonds or rubies, but nothing is more precious to me than this additional knowledge about the Lord Jesus Christ.”
What would you rather? Diamonds and rubies or your copy of the Book of Mormon? Someone this general conference said that the most important copy of the Book of Mormon is the one in your own home that you study. I know that the Book of Mormon is true.
One last thing, transfers happened and I am going to Menlo Park to serve with Elder Larsen.
